DR. AMANDA WARREN EARNS PEDIATRIC CERTIFICATION FROM INTERNATIONAL CHIROPRACTIC PEDIATRIC ASSOCIATION AND ACADEMY OF CHIROPRACTIC FAMILY PRACTICE

(Fayetteville, AR - July 30, 2007) - Dr. Amanda Warren, CACCP, recently completed 180 hours of classroom instruction and received her board certification status from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and the Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice. The CACCP (Certification from the Academy Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics) certification is a standalone certification as well as a prerequisite for Diplomate status.

Both graduates of Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Amanda Warren and her husband, Dr. Dennis Warren, own and operate Generations Chiropractic Wellness Center, which is located in the Evelyn Hills Shopping Center on College Avenue.

To fulfill the certification requirements, Dr. Amanda Warren traveled frequently to Dallas for a series of 12-hour seminars on specialized topics ranging from Perinatal Care and Neuroimmunology to Chiropractic Pediatrics for the Challenged Child and Diagnostic Imaging and Instrumentation. In addition, she successfully completed a comprehensive essay examination that covered specifics from 15 separate instruction modules.

Drs. Warren are trained and certified in the Webster Technique, a “safe means to restore proper pelvic balance and function for pregnant mothers” according to ICPA. Registered with the ICPA Webster Practice-Based Research Network, Dr. Amanda Warren currently is an active participant in a worldwide research study to document the safety and efficacy of the Webster Technique through a collaborative effort among doctors, patients and ICPA.

“Earning the pediatric certification was lots of hard work, but Denny and I both are committed to continuing education that will help us address the needs of families here in Northwest Arkansas,” remarked Dr. Amanda Warren. “This and the arrival of our new digital X-ray machine for the office,” she continued, “are major milestones for Generations [Chiropractic Wellness Center].” As for future plans, she intends on pushing forward to complete the 180 additional hours of clinical competency and clinical application courses necessary for Diplomate status.

HealthyStock Youth Fitness & Speed Camp to be held at All-Star Sports Arena

AthletePlus Sports Performance & Physical Therapy along with All-Star Fitness will have a youth fitness camp for ages 6-9 and 10-14 starting July 30 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1-5 pm. The purpose of the camp is to educate youth on fitness and nutrition by utilizing the concept of HealthyStock, a program started by physical therapist Chris Cothern of AthletePlus. “HealthyStock is a concept where youth learn to invest in their body by learning the benefits of exercise and nutrition. They are rewarded when they choose healthy options. We have this awesome facility at All-Star and wanted a program for youth that may not be involved in sports already. Many have heard the stats on the poor health of youth in Arkansas,” stated Cothern. For those already in sports, we will have speed camps for one hour a day to improve speed, jumping, and core strength. Cothern stated that investing in core strength and learning how to run at a young age can help you avoid the bad habits we see in older athletes. An advanced speed camp called Playmaker for ages 10-14 will include a DVD analysis of running form for you to take home. Females will learn knee injury prevention techniques that are important to learn at a young age according to Cothern. “An ACL repair can cost up to $25,000 and research has shown there are ways to assist in prevention,” added Cothern. AthletePlus’ Segway ACL program is approved by local team doctor Terry Sites.

During this camp, a dietician will conduct one session at the beginning of the camp, one in the middle, and one at the end of the camp with the parents and children. Parents may join the fitness center during the camp and receive discounts on personal training sessions. According to Cothern, all campers and parents who join the fitness center will receive a free injury evaluation from AthletePlus if they are ever injured. Campers will be given a pedometer to keep up with their activity levels. HealthyStock camp will have a beginning level of 11,000 steps for girls and 13,000 steps for boys.

AthletePlus has worked with college and pro athletes such as Todd Day, but works more with youth involved in all sports to become better athletes. Marcus Campbell, a former Razorback and current college strength coach assists with training along with Cothern. HealthyStock camp will cost $75 a week, $250 for full month and $350 per month for the Playmaker program and DVD analysis of running form.

The percentage of youth who are overweight has more than tripled in the past 30 years (USDHHS, 2002) and Arkansas has seen a 77% increase in obesity for 1991-2000. A 2002 survey showed 30% of youth and adults engaged in no leisure activity and many times overweight children grow into overweight adults. The CDC ranked Arkansas 8th in mortality due to heart disease and first in stroke mortality. A 10% weight reduction can help overweight adults reduce lifetime medical costs between $2,200 and $5,300. Cothern hopes the aforementioned stats will change with programs like HealthyStock. Working with all ages, AthletePlus will also have a Senior Wellness Day at All-Star Fitness Center on August 9 with more information to be released soon.

Date: July 30 through August 24
Time: 1 am to 5 pm

From Carolyn Hook

The following can cause "pause" in our thinking about what we consume each day! It is part of the attachment that is provided and a little thought provoking!!!

"No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so the scientists have to create them. They make these morbidly obese creatures by injecting them with MSG when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates; causing rats (and humans?) to become obese. They even have a title for the fat rodents they create: "MSG-Treated Rats".

"If you are one of the few who can still believe that MSG is good for us, and you don't believe what John Erb has to say, see for yourself. Go to the National Library of Medicine, at http://www.pubmed.com/. Type in the words "MSG Obese" and read a few of the 115 medical studies that appear."

For safe consumable foods without MSG, pesticides, herbicides, and safety that you can absolutely trust, think Sunrider International products! They are truly amazing! For more information, contact me!

New Technology Tip for Photoshop
Photoshop – do you use the this program? Do you ever get that
triangle next to your color when choosing a new color in the Color
Picker dialog box? If so, Photoshop is alerting you to select the
closest CMYK equivalent for the nonprintable color that is currently
under selection. Certain colors in the RGB, HSB, and Lab color models,
such as neon colors, cannot be printed because they have no
equivalents in the CMYK model. So the next time you get the alert
triangle, click it and the closest CMYK equivalent will automatically
be generated. By the way, the alert triangle is not available if you
are using web-safe sliders.

If you know an experienced person who is looking for a flexible part-time job in the North Miami area, you may want to refer them to me. I am looking for sales/ marketing coordinator to work about 25 hrs a week.

This is a permanent position for a very organized, outgoing, computer-savvy individual with office experience. This would be a great opportunity for a stay home who wants flexibility or perhaps someone who has recently retired and wants to work part-time. A student would also be okay provided they have office experience and can work without too much supervision.

If you know anyone who is interested please have them email me with a brief description of their experience, qualifications and contact info

Office Space Available

We wanted to put the word out to our yoga community first: The upstairs studio office in the North part of the AYC building will be available for rent starting August 1st.

The Integrated Body has occupied the space for the last two years, but has found that they really only use the downstairs area. Their massage business meshes well with the Arkansas Yoga Center, and we are hoping to find a renter for the upstairs space whose mission also dovetails well with that of the Arkansas Yoga Center.

This upstairs space is a lovely 600 sq.ft. open-beam studio office with a full-sized bathroom and efficiency kitchen. Rent for this space is $550/month and includes utilities (heat, water, sewer, air, electricity, and yard maintenance).

Looking to the future, we are hopeful that a good “fit” will present itself. Perhaps some of you would like to consider the possibilities, or spread the word to someone you know who might be interested in this rental opportunity.

On Friday, We've added a new game to help familiarize you with the all the space at Embassy Suites. While Embassy Suites is undergoing their updates, we may be meeting at different locations at the hotel.
When you arrive on Friday, check for signs on pedestals with the location for that day or check their electronic monitors. If I know soon enough, I'll try to send out an e-mail message.

The Outdoor Spa in Your Back Yard

Integrated Massage Spa is committed to providing innovative new, as well as traditional spa therapies using the simply elegant ingredients of Mother Earth to achieve true beauty that comes when we make the time to take care of ourselves.

Whether it's serving corporate wellness programs by providing onsite chair massage, or pampering a bride and her bridal party on that special day, I.M. Spa is unique. We take the meaning of spa a step beyond, bringing the spa to you in an experience unrivaled in Northwest Arkansas.

Your Own Back Yard Spa
Enjoying all the best features of your home.
Day Spas and Location Spas all over the world go to great lengths to plan and develop outdoor treatment areas where clients can experience the peace and nature of an exotic environment; treatment areas that overlook beautiful landscaping, a lake, or the serenity of a wooded grove.

They know what gardeners and home owners know. That being in a greenspace or outdoor space, especially your own greenspace that you designed and created, is very therapeutic. Particularly if you are taking care of your health with spa therapies in that space.

So often these days we are so busy running from place to place that we crave time to be in our own space.

Don't go out.

Get a full body mud wrap on the deck next to your hot tub. Try out a raindrop therapy under the oak tree on your lawn. Have a duet massage with your significant other beside the pool at your condo. Host an outdoor spa party for your friends.

Don't go out.

Spas all over the world go to great expense to create what you have in your own back yard. Make use of it. Enjoy it. You have gone to great lengths to create the location that helps you relax...your home...all you need now is I.M. Spa.

I.M. Spa Offers New Therapy
Raindrop Therapy
Raindrop was developed to help bring the body into homeostasis, or a state of balance using essential oils. The essential oils used have pharmacalogical effects on different systems of the body. Some oils have antiviral properties, some have antibacterial properties, and some boost immune system function.

Even if you forego the Swedish massage that normally accompanies a Raindrop therapy session, you will be amazed at the effects of the simple use of essential oils.

It makes perfect sense. Medicines are derived from plants. Essential oils are derived from plants, taking the very essence of them. With Raindrop therapy we use the essence of plants to physiologically, and pharmacologically affect the body. Bringing balance and relaxation to our overworked, overtaxed systems.

I.M. Spa is the only mobile spa in Northwest Arkansas. Improving physical and mental health through spa therapies in your most comfortable sanctuary...your home. We look forward to providing you with the best massage and spa therapies available. Book your appointment today.

Sincerely,

Wendy Finn
