Iris Arts Reception on Friday, August 5th

Reception - Friday, August 5th, from 6-9 p.m.
I quietly celebrated the first anniversary of the gallery in July. So far the gallery is growing, our artists are selling incredible work, and the secret of our lively receptions is out! Our August show, "Nine Lives," adds to the Iris Arts tradition.

"Nine Lives" explores the directions that nine years in Fayetteville have lead artists Déa Self and Misha Dyer. Join us on Friday, August 5th from 6-9 pm for a reception welcoming these artists to the gallery!

In addition to Déa and Misha, Iris Arts is pleased to bring the works of sculptor Cheri Bohn that blend glass and tree limbs and paintings by Jacey Dalton showing her modern, fantastical, fairy tale-like subjects.

Professional Women's Network Grows in Washington County

July 2005 - By Tara Muck, NWA Business Journal

The Professional Women's Network of Benton County meets the first Tuesday of every month at Studio 55 in Rogers. Its next meeting is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 5.

The Washington County chapter of PWN meets the third Tuesday of every month at Bo's Muddy Water in Fayetteville, at the same time of day. Its next meeting is set for July 19.
The network's mission is for its members to build relationships with other businesswomen in the area, promote community involvement and "inspire one another in general," according to PWN's Web log.

Jeannette Balleza, PWN's coordinator for Washington County, said about 10-12 women usually attend the luncheons, but there is always room for more.

The meetings used to be a formal luncheon when Susan Jensen started PWN in Washington County in 1997. Since then, the format has changes to a more casual event, membership fees were eliminated, and now it is an optional brown-bag luncheon.

"[The luncheon] is an informal gathering," Balleza said. "It's a little more intimate, it's always new faces, and it's always new stories."

Since Balleza took over PWN in December 2003, the membership list has grown from 65 to 165. There has been an increase in subscribers of about five per month to PWN's e-mail list, she said.

Balleza said the members represent a diverse array of professions from massage therapists, photographers and prepaid legal consultants to event coordinators, advertising agents and home-based entrepreneurs.

The network also helps promote The Northwest Arkansas Business Women's Conference, which will be held on Sept. 27 this year at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Bentonville.

Bo's Muddy Water is located in Fayetteville's Colt Square. For more information on the luncheon or to subscribe to the mailing list, contact Balleza at (479) 973.0600 or by e-mail at jeannette@vulcancreative.com.
