National Urban Arts Weekend Festival Kick-Off
Los Angeles, CA---August 15, 2005---Progressive Entertainment Group, Management (PEG, Mgmt) announced today that in Mid-October it will present Kollage of Scopes a national urban arts festival. Kollage of Scopes provides an unprecedented opportunity for artists around the country as it kicks-off its Urban Arts Festivals in Los Angeles at the Santa Monica Pier (Oct. 15-16, 2005). Follow up cities will be South Beach-Miami (March 2006), New York City (June 2006), Dallas (Oct. 2006), Tampa, Atlanta, Chicago and many more cities around the country. Each city will represent a different and diverse sampling of the cultural fabric of our country.
“Our goal is to capture the flavor of the urban arts movement within the fabric of inner cities across the United States. This festival was created to raise the awareness and consciousness in the minds and in the spirits of those contributing and understanding to the arts”, said Derek Corley, CEO of PEG, Mgmt. “The theme will be one of retrospect, observance, anticipation and honoring of artists that have made significant contributions to the arts community in the past, present and those who will blaze a new and defining trail in the future, while reshaping American culture. “

Kollage of Scopes will host a diverse group of artists from around the country, eager to exhibit the burgeoning cultural movement of the 21st Century. This presents an ideal environment to observe the vast array of artistic talent that is being groomed around the country and the world with various forms of cultural expressions serving as the background for dialogue that pushes that expression forward.
The festival activities begin on Thursday night, October 13 at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens where a benefit dinner honoring various celebrities for their contributions to the arts will be held. 250 guests are expected to attend the dinner, which includes a menagerie of cultured foods from around the world, an honoring ceremony, and live entertainment (spoken word, modern dance, and a short film). The proceeds will be divided between The National Breast Cancer Foundation and Education in the Arts awareness programs.
On Saturday and Sunday, October 15 & 16, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm a “Kollage” of artistic activities will occur at the Santa Monica Pier. Attendees will have the opportunity to view impressionist art, photography, spoken word, modern dance, jazz dance, and enjoy the sounds of R&B, Country, Jazz, and Rock musicians. Short films will be shown in the Arcadia Room on The Pier including Q&A sessions with filmmakers following each screening.
A mid-festival celebration, “Intimate A’ Coustix”, will take place Saturday evening from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm at the Avalon Club in Hollywood. Well-known artists will perform “unplugged”, giving them the opportunity to show the public their naturally gifted talents. Ticket purchases for this event will only be available for the public prior to the show. Tickets will not be available for purchase at the door.
Kollage of Scopes offers a unique opportunity for people in the communities in which it tours to enjoy, appreciate and participate in a “Kollage” of artistry. For further information contact PEG, Mgmt at 323-933-3554.
