Sixth Annual Crimson and Cream Ball
The Northwest Arkansas Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will host its Sixth Annual Crimson and Cream Ball on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Rogers, Arkansas. The Crimson and Cream Ball is a fundraiser for the Nola Holt Royster Living Legacy Scholarship and the Bethany “Dee“ McClendon Graduate Scholarship.
The Nola Holt Royster Living Legacy Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Dr. Nola Holt Royster, a lifelong and dedicated member of our organization and prominent figure in the Northwest Arkansas community. The Nola Holt Royster Living Legacy Scholarship provides financial assistance to African-American women who are leaders and will pursue a degree at a college or university. Last year’s efforts resulted in $20,000 raised for undergraduate scholarships.
The Bethany “Dee” McClendon Graduate Scholarship was established to honor the memory of a former member of our chapter and law school student at the University of Arkansas. The Bethany “Dee” McClendon Graduate Scholarship provides financial assistance to current graduate students attending the University of Arkansas. Last year’s efforts resulted in two scholarships being awarded for a total of $2,500.
Last year’s successful scholarship program resulted in a total of $22,500 in awards. However pleased we are with last year’s efforts, we understand the outstanding unmet need in our community for scholarship assistance. With that in mind, this year’s goal is to provide $50,000 for scholarships to Northwest Arkansas Area students.
