Open Mic Blues Jam at the Bayou

Every Thursday night at the Bayou in Rogers (behind Price Cutter and across from Eureka Pizza on Dixieland), my husband and I go to Open Mic Blues Jam. It’s the coolest thing. The house band, The Larrys (and there isn’t one Larry in the group) open up at 9:00 p.m. The local musicians start wandering in with their guitars, amplifiers, drum sticks, harmonicas, etc. and sign up. Throughout the night, the musicians switch out. These people are from all walks of life and there are some killer blues guys (and gals) in the area. One of the Larrys is a guy named Danny that works in the Miller Brewing Company supplier office here. His wife told me about waking up in the middle of the night when they were first together. Danny was in the bathroom with the light on and the door closed. Thinking he was sick, she got up to check on him and found him in the bathroom with his guitar trying to figure out a chord. That, my friends, is what the blues will do to you. Yeah, buddy. It’s all about the music. Tom and I are there most Thursdays. You’re welcome to sit with us anytime.
