Announcing TEDActive

Dear TED Global Community,

We, at TED HQ, are hard at work on exciting plans for TED2010, and we wanted you give you an update on our 2010 conference in Palm Springs, which features a live-hosted simulcast of TED in an intimate, immersive setting.

Formerly called TED@PalmSprings, the conference has a new name: TEDActive. Why did we change it? Well, we'd noticed a remarkable thing -- that at this year's inaugural event Palm Spring participants were, if anything, even more passionate about TED than those coming to Long Beach. Attention to ideas and talks was off the charts. And it led to numerous animated conversations about how to take what was learned and apply it in the real world. This was a community not only ready to be immersed in a powerful TED experience but to take action.

The name TEDActive reflects that. We're convinced that for many people, it represents the best possible way to get value from TED.

The event will blend the allure of the future with the mystique of a desert oasis, complete with live music acts, bonus exclusive speakers, connections with makers and doers you'll never forget, and multi-sensory, brilliant, exploratory fun.

At TEDActive, we will honor some of the unsung heroes of TED -- the people who have helped get these "ideas worth spreading" out into the world. We're offering half-price passes to a select group. In Palm Springs, we will have among us 40 independent TEDx organizers, 30 TEDTalks volunteer translators, 30 rockstar TEDPrize wish contributors, and 10 top TED.com community commenters.

We have a truly remarkable group of TEDsters signed up to attend, but we do still have places available. To learn more about TEDActive, click here.
